It was an emotional send-off Monday night for a popular music teacher at Coon Rapids High School.
Rick Geiger, who recently accepted a new position at his church, received a standing ovation during the annual "Sing Into Spring" choir concert. In February, Geiger became the new Worship Music and Arts Director at Faith Lutheran Church.
"His service and passion has changed the lives of so many," fellow colleague Amy Johnson said during a special tribute to Geiger. "He cares deeply for every student and is the best kind of leader - a servant heart with boundless passion and patience."
Geiger worked at Coon Rapids High School for 31 years. During Monday night's tribute, current students read messages from alumni about what Mr. Geiger taught them. He also received a bouquet of flowers before joining choir students in their final song of the night.
