Job seekers met recruiters on Wednesday during a job fair at the Educational Service Center in Anoka.
The Anoka-Hennepin School District wants to hire both part-time and full-time workers in a variety of positions including paras, assistants and custodians. The biggest need for the District revolves around finding enough substitute teachers to cover teacher absences.
"The School Board's authorized higher pay for substitute teachers this year,” according to Director of Labor Relations and Benefits Todd Mensink. The pay for substitute teachers with a bachelor's degree was increased to $180 dollars per day.
Mensink said the District has used creative ways to cover teachers absences like having administrators who still hold a teaching license to go back into the classroom to provide substitute coverage.
"It's really an attempt for us at the District office to show some support and do what we can to help out with the day to day staffing needs in the buildings," Mensink said.
Even people looking for casual positions, who can work as many days as they want, are encouraged to apply.
"We're looking for people who are hardworking, enthusiastic and willing to support the mission of the District, and become part of our team," Mensink said.
If you missed the job fair, you can go to the Anoka Hennepin School District website and check out all the job openings at or call 763-506-JOBS.
