COVID-19 didn't stop an annual holiday tradition from continuing this year.
On Thursday, the Coon Rapids VFW hosted their holiday dinner with a 2020-style, drive-thru event. The hot meal included roast turkey along with mashed potatoes and gravy with all the trimmings. Volunteers from the Coon Rapids Rotary Club delivered the meals in insulated bags right to their cars.
The event was sold out with a limit of 250 seniors. Participants paid five dollars each, with all of the proceeds, and tips collected, going to cover the Auxiliary's expenses and other community projects.
