A COVID-19 testing site popped up in the parking lot of the National Sports Center this week.
This self-administered swab test is the same one which has been available at clinics for months now. Anyone who needed a test could get one, even without insurance. The testing is part of a federal effort to provide support in areas that have seen a recent spike in COVID cases.
The pop-up site, which opened Monday, saw more than 900 people on the first day alone and more throughout the week. The final day for testing at the National Sports Center is Saturday, December 12 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
If you can't make it to the National Sports Center, community testing continues locally at the National Guard Armory in Anoka December 15-19, 21-22 and 28-30 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. The test at the Armory is a saliva test. Do not eat, drink, smoke or chew gum 30 minutes prior to the test. Also, if you have health insurance, bring your insurance card. For more information or to schedule an appointment, click here.
