A Coon Rapids veteran has a new roof over his head thanks to some special volunteers.
Scott Favilla, a U.S. Army veteran wounded in the Gulf War, received a new roof today as part of the Owens Corning National Roof Deployment Project. Through a partnership with Purple Heart Homes, Favilla was selected as the recipient of the roof replacement.
"Today we’re out here doing a free roof for a veteran that served our country and we’re giving back and doing this through Owens Corning the Roof Deployment Project," says Tony Flattum of Built Strong Exteriors.
"It’s nice to see that it’s being paid forward," says Scott Favilla. "We gave our name on a dotted line saying that we signed up for whatever is going to happen and it’s nice to see companies out there that are willing to go the extra mile to help us veterans that need the help."
The Owens Corning Foundation donated the roofing materials and Built Strong Exteriors donated the labor. Since the inception of the program in 2016, around 200 military members across the U.S. have received new roofs.
