It's been almost six months since Hanson Boulevard closed for construction. The shutdown has been a pain at times for the 13,000 drivers who normally use Hanson Boulevard to cross the railroad tracks between Northdale Boulevard and Coon Rapids Boulevard.
Crews are building a bridge overpass at the railroad tracks, working this week to pour concrete north of the tracks for a retaining wall. There was an extensive amount of underground utility work already done, which took longer than expected to complete. Now crews
are maintaining a busy schedule to keep the project on track. They are working 12 hour days, five days a week, plus occasional Saturdays to stay on schedule.
The Hanson overpass is expected to open to traffic in November. Some additional work will be done next spring, but shouldn't require any more closures.
