Lots of Fun at Summer Community Ed. Classes

School is out for the summer but that hasn’t stopped kids in pre-school to eighth grade from learning new skills, making friends and having fun.

Anoka-Hennepin Community Education has wrapped up its first week of summer programs at Oak View Middle School.  Classes and camps run through August and include arts and crafts, theatre, dance and movement, sports and a lot more.

On Thursday, second through sixth graders made stop-motion animation movies with LEGO bricks.  Kids from across the district in a wide range of grades scored big at a basketball camp.  And first through fifth graders explored the outdoors at fairy camp.  They made wands and fairy houses while learning about art and science.

"Anoka-Hennepin Community Education offers these enrichment classes as an opportunity to build on the academic skills they have focused on over the school year and the enrichment activities also help kids dive a little bit deeper into interest areas that they have that they’re not able to focus on as much during the school year," says Heather Peters of Anoka-Hennepin Community Education.

New classes start every week at sites across the Anoka-Hennepin School District.  To register call 763-506-5955 or click here for more information.
