Do you own or work for a business that supports sustainable business practices? The City of Coon Rapids and the Coon Rapids Sustainability Commission have launched a new program to recognize businesses that are taking steps to support a green, sustainable and healthy community.
What are some examples of sustainable business practices? There are a variety of items – everything from implementing organics recycling in the workplace to using LED bulbs, buying in bulk or using electric or hybrid vehicles.
The City has four classifications to the program:
o Bronze (25 points)
o Silver (45 points)
o Gold (65 points)
o Platinum (85 points)
Businesses receive an overall score once they have submitted their form online, detailing which sustainable practices they have implemented in their business. After signing up for the program, businesses will receive:
o A special certificate
o A window decal to proudly display at the place of business
o Be listed in the Coon Rapids Connection City newsletter and on the City website under the category listing of your business (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum)
Businesses are also encouraged to continue making sustainable improvements and rise to the next level of recognition. Read more about the Community Sustainability Partnership Recognition Program and sign up online.
