If pop, that bubbly surgary drink, brings a smile to your face then the Minnesota Soda Festival is for you. On August 4th its visitors took a step back in time to sample more than 100 craft sodas.
A bus built in 1953 transported soda seekers to dozens of tents lined up in the back lot of Blue Sun Soda and Sweets in Spring Lake Park. Once there, visitors found 20 bottling companies represented, offering enough samples for a sugar rush.
“Just the overall vibe, it’s really fun, just connecting with others, seeing where all the soda is made from,” said Magin Gillen, a volunteer who was pouring North Star Craft Soda.
Inside the store, shoppers had access to more than 1,300 pop varieties and a host of other sweets.
Mark Lazarchic, The owner of the blue sun soda and sweets shop said turnout for the festival was better than expected and he promised it will return next year.
