The fire community mourns the loss of an expert investigator who died suddenly over the weekend at the age of 58.
Jamie Novak, who retired from the St. Paul Fire Department just over a year ago, died from an apparent heart attack, according to his family.
Over the years, Novak took part in several training sessions with the Coon Rapids Fire Department including this house burn back in October of 2011. Those who knew him say he'll be missed not only for his knowledge but his great personality and sense of humor.
Novak, who lived in Center City, is survived by his wife, a daughter and grandson. His funeral will take place Wednesday, August 8 at the Eagle Brook Church in White Bear Lake.
