Members of the Coon Rapids Fire Department returned to the Riverdale area this week for their annual Fill The Boot campaign.
Firefighters spent three days at the corner of Main Street and Northdale Boulevard collecting donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association from passing motorists. They have done this for several years now collecting big money for the MDA.
"We see a little bit of everything some people are emptying their ashtrays and everything 5s, 10s, 20s and some people are even throwing checks in the boots everything adds up so every little bit helps, it's amazing how much we do just in change,' says Coon Rapids firefighter Pat Metz.
During the course of three days, Coon Rapids firefighters raised more than $24,000. Last year nationally, Fill The Boot brought in $24 million for MDA.
