The golf course at Bunker Hills is finally open for the season but not before tying a record for the latest start ever.Bunker Hills officially opened for play on Thursday afternoon and by Friday morning, high school golf teams from the metro area were hitting the links. Staff at Bunker Hills say all the snow this winter, which delayed the opening, has had one positive effect: course conditions are fantastic. But the downside with the late opening is the loss of a lot of green in the form of dollars."Unfortunately the financial impact is significant," says Tim Anderson, director of golf at Bunker Hills. "You don't expect you're going to get much in March but you assume you'll be able to be open in April and hustling and bustling, at least on the weekends, so it's a significant, potentially a six figure number."The golf course has been getting a lot of calls in recent days and expects hundreds of golfers to hit the greens this weekend. This year also marks the 50th anniversary of the Bunker Hills Golf Club. A day of food, fun and live music is being planned for the golden milestone which is on Sunday, July 8.For more information or to book a tee time, click here.
