The city took a step forward this week with their efforts to land a full interchange at Highway 610 and Coon Rapids Boulevard.
On Tuesday night, the City Council, acting in their role as the Housing and Redevelopment Authority, approved a purchase agreement for five acres of vacant land between Highway 610 and Foley Boulevard. The purchase price is $768,000. In addition to the land purchase, another traffic study is expected to be done.
The goal is to secure funding for the project to complete the interchange. Currently, eastbound 610 traffic can exit on Coon Rapids Boulevard and motorists can get onto Highway 610 and head westbound. But motorists on Coon Rapids Boulevard can't get on and head east towards Blaine, and vehicles getting onto 610 from Highway 10 have no options to exit the highway until they get into Brooklyn Park.
