Victim Witness Program

Services to Help

The goal of the Coon Rapids City Attorney’s Office Victim Witness Program is to provide victims and witnesses of crime supportive services and assistance in dealing with the crime itself and the expectations of the criminal justice system.

The Victim Witness Program provides victim and witness services for cases charged by the City Attorney’s Office only.

If you are a victim or witness of a case charged by a City Attorney’s Office, the Victim Witness Program can provide general information about the criminal justice system and will refer you to the appropriate office for specific questions about the case in which you are involved.

Services We Provide

Being a crime victim can be a difficult and traumatic experience and the criminal justice system can be confusing and overwhelming to those who are not familiar with it.

Our Victim Witness Coordinator is available to answer your questions, address your concerns, and help you through the criminal prosecution process. Although counseling is not provided by the program, our coordinator can listen to your concerns and make appropriate referrals to help you.

Most individuals do not expect to be a victim of a crime and are unprepared to deal with their victimization. Crime victims have certain rights outlined by Minnesota Statute.

Our goal is to provide all victims of crime with an understanding of the criminal justice process, and inform them of their rights.

What to Expect at Court

Our Victim Witness Program collaborated with the Anoka County Attorney’s Office to create a Visual Guide for the Anoka County courthouse. This guide (PDF) is intended to assist victims and witnesses on what to expect when coming to the courthouse.
